For those of us fed up with mayflies!!
Being one of those anglers who was fed up with going through angling entomology books and only finding one or two lines about caddis (or sedges) I found this book was excellent. Gary Lafontaine has a way about going into some detail about caddis flies and still keeping it interesting and relevant to anglers. There is more information that you will need to imitate the caddis fly when sitting at your vice but you can skip the bits you don't want to read without getting lost.

There is some information on why he designed the fly patterns, so you can decide if you agree with him and choose if you want to use that fly. It also gives useful information on when and how to fishing different imitations. It cover what sort of water different species can be found and has useful charts on the time of year to look for the hatches. The only down point is that as with most of these books there are written for America but a lot of the stuff is still applicable in the UK.

This is not a book for people who want a lot of fly patterns but is definitely a book worth having on your shelf if you have more that a passing interest in the beasties fish eat.
