This is a great way to get started.
I bought this book as I wanted to crochet a certain project and had no clue where to start. I'm so glad I did. It has everything you need to get started and very clear, easy to follow instructions. The pictures are large and use colours well to demonstrate each stitch. There was enough wool included to make all the little projects though you will have to buy more if you want to make the scarf as well. The projects are nice and small which makes them quick to complete, just what you need as a learner.

There are also good notes about buying yarns, and converting from UK or States systems. They use the States stitch names in this book but I've since bought another that uses the UK names and found it very easy to follow having been briefed by Klutz. There is also a good needle included and hooks to mark rounds so the only extra I've bought for further projects has been yarn.

Crochet seems to be a fairly easy craft to learn, though in my personal opinion it might be a little difficult for very small chidren. There's a lot of counting involved and you need to remember where you are. I'd probably say about age 10 and up.

This is a really great set and worth hanging onto for reference.

Perfect for beginners of all ages
I picked up this one in a toy store as something to do over Christmas and it was the best thing I could ever have done! The instructions are the easiest I have found - very clear and took away all the frustrations that I had been feeling. The kit has enough wool to make the scarf on the front plus a little bag, which is just right for getting you going. The patterns are simple yet useful and timeless - I know I'll be using this book again and again. If I lost my copy I'd buy it again without hesitation.

Easiest to follow crochet book
I bought this book to help me get started with crochet, I own other books on crochet but this is the best. The illustrations are fantastic and are a great help. Step by step instructions are great. I frequently use this book when I am crocheting to help me remember stiches and techniques. It gives U.S and U.K terms and sizes. Well worth buying.
