Customer Reviews

Good, but out of date....3
In many ways a nice guide - well presented, with a suitably elongated format, presenting two pages to a particular building, including all the classics from the 30's, such as Chrysler, Rockerfeller, Empire State. Commentaries are well written and there's an impressive interview with Philip Johnson, as well as reviews of some of his buildings, including the more recent "Lipstick" building and the AT&T.

However this book was written in the late 90's and so is pre-9/11; though that does I suppose mean it considers the architectural merits of the Twin Towers without any other considerations. But as well as this shortcoming, there has been so much development in the last few years in the Asia-Pacific region when it comes to Skyscrapers, that even though the Petronas Towers are included, the book is now a little out of date.
