It's Simply The Best!!!!5
So, ok, i've never been a huge fan of anime or manga in particular - but this series has just stolen my heart! It has a blend of anything you could possibly want in a story - so i'll list them;
Love, hate, betrayal, action, adventure, romance, humour, sweetness, supsense, horror, thrills, love triangles (and there is more than just one love triangle), fairytales, legends, heros, heroines, magic, ex-girlfriends, zombies (aka ex-girlfriends), demons, history, fat cats and peer pressure.
Wow.

Rumiko Takahashi, as you can see, has a very special talent for creating amazing stories. So it's easy to understand how this series has become a total hit in Japan. It's started its own animated series, with two movies and is currently on episoder eighty-six. And the graphic novels (manga) have still yet to conclude.
Another reason why i like this series is that it's still active and up to date, it's perfect! It's also probably one of the fastest to reacg America in this case. It's currently being aired on Cartoon Network, Saturday nights at 11pm. So if anyone travels to America, look out for it. It's bound to be a hit.
And so far, i'm holding out hopes that it's going to filter through to England and be shown on our own Cartoon Network, or at least the new channel, CNX.
Here's the story in case you didn't know.
Kagome's an ordinary school girl who falls down a well and climbs out into Japan's feudal past, the muromachi period (around 1450 - 1550, roughly)where she meets Inuyasha. The two don't get on very well since Kagome bears a striking resemblance to a woman who cast a sleeping spell on Inuyasha - which Kagome freed him from. As the story goes on it seems that the plot is centered around a special bead called the Jewel of Four souls (Shikon jewel)which is shattered accidentally by Kagome. So Kagome and Inuyasha then have to set off on a search for the shards, each for their own reasons. So far, this journey has not been completed or written yet, so no one knows what will happen in the end. But as the story progresses it becomes evident that there is a growing relationship between Kagome and Inuyasha, and along the way they meet new friends, new enemies, and new loves.
It's an adventure with everything you need and like i said, i don't like manga or anime in particular but Inuyasha is definately something special and out of the ordinary.
Be warned though, this series does have its dark side on the occasion so it's not for little kids. There is a great deal of killing and blood and guts and blah, blah, blah. It also holds a strong likeness to Buffy the Vampire Slayer (but that's just me) slaying demons and lovers from different walks of life. But if you can stomach the odd violence it is a great epic tale. If like me, you're a total wuss when it comes to violence, you kinda get used to it and it doesn't seem so bad after reading one volume. But it does have a creepy factor to the tale that shouldn't be underestimated.
I definately recommend this series, even if you're not a fan of most works of this kind - because it is the best thing thought up since sliced bread. The plot is amazing with so many twists and turns that you're left speculating what will eventually happen in the end, it's the kind of story that i want to read over and over and over again.
And if you're still unsure, there is a website called 'Inuyasha, Sengoku O Tougi Zoushi' or something like that which has every chapter of the Inuyasha series translated into English, up to date with the chapters being published in Japan. You can read the first volume (minus the images mind) and decide if the story is for you. Though, be warned, this is in no way a substitute for the graphic novels, because no matter how good the translations may be, nothing can beat the real thing.
That's how i got hooked.

A Change from Romantic Comedy5
I think that this is Rumiko Takahashi's work at its best. It starts off and goes differently from all her other stories that she's written. A girl is thrown into the past and is forced to team up with a half dog demon. Together they go on a journey to reclaim the Jewel of the Four Souls. It's not your average romantic comedy. In the very beginning, Kagome and Inuyasha make it clear that they don't like each other. But they manage to work together to find the shards of the Shikon Jewel (Jewel of the Four Souls), the jewel that gives power to any demon. As the story progresses, it's obvious that their partnership is slowly becoming more that just a tolerable friendship. But Takahashi doesn't just show it just like that. She continues to keep the readers in suspense. She manages to not tell anything, and still yet throw in little things that'll keep the reader hooked.

I myself love Inuyasha and have followed along with the story all the way to book thirteen. It's not in books yet, but there is a website called Inuyasha Sengoku-O-Toushi that is translating the story concurrently with the Japanese. I will not tell anything that'll give away the story before it has hit the printing presses, but I will say this. People may think that each story is just Inuyasha and Kagome fighting a demon to get the shard. If everyone will just bear with the story, then they'll soon see it's just more than that. As, I said, I have read all the way up to book 13, and book five is when Takahashi starts to add in a bunch of new twists, which will certainly get everyone hooked!

Rumiko Takahashi does it again...5
A fantastic and funny story - Kagome, a young high school girl, is one day dragged into a magical well by a strange monster. It turns out that the demons everywhere are looking for the jewel of the four souls - a powerful magical jewel that can give any demon the power to live forever. Kagome is transported through time after falling in the well to ancient Japan. There she meets Inu-Yasha, a boy/demon who is also after the jewel. When the jewel is shattered, they both must go look for it...

This series has it all... boy meets girl, adventure, comedy - everything you would expect from Rumiko Takahashi! ^_^;; I'd definitely suggest it!
