challenging and insightful
Performed in front of a live audience, this was also recorded as a PBS (US TV channel) special. Myss tells listeners how to restructure their thinking in order to better handle crises, health problems, and life in general. She divides power into three levels: tribal (group thinking), individual (realm of power where you unhook from the tribal mind, and where you have to take responsibility for everything you believe--good, bad or indifferent), and symbolic (where a person observes his/her life as if from a distance). The symbolic is also the realm where we see our life through the eyes of sacred contracts and archetypes. Myss discusses how we can each manage our own power, especially through choice.

I'm told Myss is an acquired taste but, from the start, I was magnetised by her compelling mix of passion and candour. Myss is a challenging and compelling speaker. It's interesting that her blunt rejection of so much of the New Age nonsense is dubbed sarcasm by some: for me she comes across more as ironic, and her forthrightness is both refreshing and inspiring.

She started out as a medical intuitive with a fascinating ability to identify how different stages of history are reflected by specific major diseases and also to describe the world's spiritual shifts and stages over the decades since WWII. As always, her spoken material is more gripping than her written work. Myss has been on Oprah several times and is a magnificent guide and mentor with a powerful style. I have probably listened to every tape/CD she has produced.
