Product Description

A colour reference for all types of designers, artists and anyone who used colour in their work or creative pursuits. Along with some basic colour theory, the guide provides hundreds of one, two, and three-colour combinations selected to reflect a range of moods and adjectives. It includes information on creating special effects using metallic and fluorescent colour palettes, as well as a section devoted to the psychology of colour. The authors help readers determine their best colours and suggest why some colours may inspire creativity while others don't. The book also includes two colour palette sections reflecting black and white as the colour base, along with an expanded and updated colour trends sections that discusses trends and how they are predicted, giving advice on how to be a trend spotter.

Practical Colour Handybook5
This book is the ideal tool for anyone working in any field involving colour. Art, house painting and all handicrafts.
It is brief and to the point, very easy to follow; to obtain concise direction in your colour work.
Also a fascinating book for those with a casual interest in colour, as it explains why certain colours are used to obtain effects we accept and take for granted.
Sadly it fails to acknowlege their colour wheel is based upon Itten's colour wheel.
An excellent buy.

Some info and a good swatch reference5
This book contains all (plus a little more) of the information within "Colour Harmony 2: A Guide to Creative Colour Combinations", so dont be tempted to buy both. Half of the book is descriptive and the other half has a reference of swatches. The informative pages have a good balance of imagery and text, containing concise explanations about the colour wheel, trends, aspects and the psychology of colour.

The 'Moods and Color' reference part serves as a good starting point when I'm choosing colour combinations for my designs. The pages show swatches from various colour schemes and are classified by their moods, for example: romantic, earthy, friendly, soft, elegant, fresh, traditional, tropical, nostalgic, energetic, subdued, pure. The swatches for each of those moods come from monochromatic, primary, secondary, complementary, analogous, split, clash and neutral colour schemes. I like its wide variety and I've used this book plenty of times.

Great Reference Guide5
A clear layout and useful pantone guides make this a quick reference guide to practical colour theory.
