Porn is everywhere - a multi-billion dollar force that flows from the smallest peep show booth to the biggest convention hall. Porn is good. Porn is right. And now more than ever, porn is pervasive, John Holmes and Linda Lovelece, once matinee idols of sticky-floored nickelodeons, now have their life stories told on the screens of "respectable" multiplexes. Porn superstar Jenna Jameson has her own action figure. Porn star Mary Carey received more than 10,000 votes in the California recall election. What's the most profitable sector of the internet? You guessed it. Now the phenomenon is heading toward a bookstore near you. Think of this book as Porn 101: a friendly, funny, illustrated celebration of adult films, without all the messy hardcore stuff. You'll find sections on: THE CLASSICS: The 25 most important adult films of all time, including Debble Does Deltas, Deep Throat, Behind the Groon Door, and Toboo. GREAT MOMENTS IN PORN HISTORY: From the first silent "stag" movie of the 1920s to the invention of the silicone breast implant, here are 25 events that defined modern-day adult films. THE PANTHEON OF PORN: These mini-bios of mega-stars like Seka, Linda Lovelace, and Marilyn Chambers are filled with surprising trivia. (Example: Italian porn star Cicciolina was actually elected to her country's parliament - then went back to the porn business after her term ended!) WHAT TO WATCH, WHERE TO WATCH IT: Who invented those 25-cent peep show booths? Where have all the Great Porn Theatres gone? And what the hell happened to Times Square? Plus: A primer on various porn genres, including "ATM," "Little People," "Pony Play," and "Smoking." IT'S A PORN WORLD, AFTER ALL: Talk about export-friendly! We travel around the world - from Canada and Japan to Afghanistan - to watch the best of international porn. MAKE YOUR OWN PORNO: All you need is a video camera, a willing partner, and these simple pointers ("Toll a story," "Start with a Bang," "Parody a Real Film Title Whenever Possible"). PLUS tons of great art, kitschy stills, a glossary of unfamiliar terms, and the 300 strangest porn titles of all time (including Intercourse with a Vampire. An Officer and a Genitalman, The Loin King, and Edward Penishands).

Pretty Penetrating
Ever since I read 'How to Survive a Horror Movie' I have been a little biased - as I adore Seth Grahame-smith's writing style and the never ending wit he adds to every page. So I purchased this book, hoping for more of the same thing.
Which I got, and was extremely happy with. I'm a woman, who knows a fair bit about porn, but this book is so heavily detailed I feel like a veteran in the biz. this book is an intresting, funny and informative book about porn - no more and no less.
I even liked the part at the end where Seth gives guidelines about how to make your own porn film. It also gives a brief overview of porn history, as well as the different types of porn, and the players from the earlier 20th century to present day. His prominent chart of the top porn films is also quite interesting to read.
I believe that I gave this book four stars only because I preferred his later two, but this still shouldnt stop you from adding it to your collection.
If you'd like tips or you're interested in the genre - this book is a great start for you.
If you're like me and just want to follow Seth's writing style - then it's pretty good anyway.
for the latter though, I'd recommend 'How to Survive a Horror Movie' or 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' (ok, that one is cheating a little because the style has been adapted from Austen - but the wit and charm still comes through regardless).
enjoy
