Raw Food books generally focus on what the diet does for your body, its
health. A RADIANT LIFE is about what this way of being does for your MIND,
your consciousness; since a calm and happy mind could only ultimate in a
healthy body and joyous energy.
And because "a mind that's changed against its will is of the same opinion
still", A Radiant Life provides easy steps to move from any way of eating
-- at your own chosen pace -- to a happy experience of raw vegan.
Simply glancing at the magazines by the supermarket checkout shows that a
beautiful face and a perfect body do not automatically lead to great
happiness.
Clarity of consciousness and the awareness of being Loved by Something
Wonderful does bring your deserved happiness, and it also beautifies us as
we allow this Presence.
So that while A RADIANT LIFE is about Raw Food, it is also about the
Presence of Love. And what I have learned is that EVERYONE IS DESERVING of
this transcendent experience of living.

From the Author
The wonderful thing, as the author, about A RADIANT LIFE is that it has
been as much fun to write as to experience, and as much fun to experience
as to write. What I mean by this is that WHAT IS WRITTEN IS
EXPERIENCEABLE.
The ideas are not just some theories. They are being lived. WE ALL MAY LIVE
THEM.
Our lives have not been easy (understatement), and yet, two things have
made, for me, some really awful years into transcendent experiences. These
two things are Listening for Guidance and the Raw Vegan Diet, which came
through being willing to Listen.
Even the smallest amount of the daily news brings into sharp focus the fact
that the human experience brings little lasting peace and happiness. This
is NOT how it is meant to be.
THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE AVAILABLE TO US, and you don't have to die to find
it. A RADIANT LIFE grew out of my longing to share this precious Gift with
you.

Suppose that your body isn't what you think it is? Suppose that - whether
you appear to be fat, medium or thin, beautiful, ordinary or homely, young
or old, - you are actually always perfectly balanced, gracefully
symmetrical - an instrument of Loveliness - of Light that always is.
What would that feel like? I was about to write: What would that look
like? - Looking good often being a primary concern because we so often
judge things (and especially ourselves!) by how we, and they, appear.
And yet, what gives us more joy? Is it that we `look good' in the mirror,
or that we feel a sense of boundless happiness springing up within us -
permeating all our activities - an energy - a joyful peace? And we
probably look beautiful when that is our experience, only we're not looking
in a mirror to check on it.
Is this possible? Of course it is.
Here? Yes.
Now? Yes.
How do I know? Because I have experienced this unreasonable, outrageous
happiness. I can feel it, and it transforms even the most painful
experiences into this steady, peaceful Joy that is ultimately healing - not
just for ourselves, but for anyone around us who is willing to join us in
feeling this.
This book is about my sharing my experiences with you because Good is only
Good when it is shared. It is not something to be hoarded, kept to one's
self. When it is really Good, it bursts out.
Is this experience difficult to have? It's like finding a perfect fruit -
and because it fits the picture so well, I'll use a durian fruit. A durian
is a fruit that looks like a three-way cross between a fat football, a mace
(a vicious, spiked weapon from the middle ages) and a pineapple. It is
covered with strong, sharp spikes that hurt when you put your hand on it to
open it. And it has an unusual, sometimes off-putting, smell. There is a
way to open durian that allows the fruit to unfold itself to you, revealing
more and more chambers full of the sweet pillows of fruit. The creamy
texture and taste are exquisite ... and it gets more and more delicious.
That's what finding our ever-present Joy is like: It seems to be hidden,
encased in something impenetrable, with many deterrents along the way.
However, if we are not deterred because we know the Sweetness and Good are
present and are available, we will be surprised by the ease with which we
can experience Them. Why? Because They are what We are.
So why don't we experience this Good? Listen ...
"No! No! No!" The voice for fear screams. "That's not what I am. I'm a
mess. I'm angry, and I'm afraid, and I'm lacking so much. And I'm not
worth it, and I don't deserve it. And anyway, if it gets too good,
something bad will happen."
Recognize that voice? That's the voiceunder - the noise
that is always undermining us by commenting on everyone and everything -
and not in a complimentary way. Do you know that voice? Say you meet
someone, and you like them, and they like you; and you're really enjoying
each other. After a bit, you'll hear the voiceunder commenting:
"Well, they're nice, but look at how he clears his throat a lot." - Or "How
strange her eyebrows actually are ..." And the little thing becomes more
important than their kindness or their sense of humor.
The voiceunder is the spoiler. The voiceunder is very
concerned with looking good.
You're starting on raw foods and this whining and strident voice is sure to
say: "I'm hungry! I'm getting too thin. My nose is running too
much. I must not be getting enough protein. I need a cheeseburger!" And
if you succumb, it will be sure to point out afterwards just how
weak-willed you are.
And long before it even gets to the `effects', it has already whispered in
your mind that there are going to be bad effects because you're
going against the mutual agreements of the society as to how things are.
And there is this basic agreement that when you rock the boat - question
`the way it is' - you must be crazy and you're going to suffer. Look at
Moses - having to listen to 600,000 people's complaints because he led them
to freedom. And we all know what happened to Jesus. Maybe it's not such a
good idea to have a vision - to step outside of the agreements?
If you want to have your average human experience that always ends in
dying, then you're right to stay inside the cage of the mutual agreements
here. Inside are all familiar things: war, hatred, pollution, greed, fear,
selfishness, loneliness, sickness, aging, dying - no surprises to startle
us. At least we know what's coming.
But when you step through the bars of the mutual agreements - and once
you're willing, they offer you no resistance - be prepared to be constantly
surprised by Joy, by Peace, by ... I'm looking for a word here that means
an ever-new, blessing Experience that is happy and interesting and full
with a restful, boundless Energy. - Kind of like being in Love with and
Loved by Everything, Always. (It's better than being popular.)
Eating raw is a step that can bring you through the bars of the cage. And
if you're aware of the choice between voices, it will be much easier.
There is another Voice, and It is the Voice that speaks for Love, for Life.
We can hear this Voice as our Mind, and we can feel It as our
Being. And in just the same way, we can hear the voice of fear - the
voiceunder - pretending to be our mind, and feeling like our being.
The voice of fear speaks for unreality. And the Voice of Life, of Love,
speaks for Reality - what it's like when we leave the cage - the prison
cell - of human agreements; arbitrary human agreements. It speaks
of Love and of the absence of fear.
And we always have a choice as to whether to listen to the unreal or
the Real - we will listen to fear or to Love.

Food of Love...
Sun-Rose shares the way of raw food like a conversation around a table laden with rich colours and vivid tastes. She speaks of experiences, stories and thoughts along with recipes offered in a way that invite the reader to try their own variations and favourite ingredients. On this level A Radiant Life is a book about food. It's wider message is of joy, of shared love, and food as prayer; integrity in our relationships with our brothers and sisters - human and animal, and with God through good food that is alive and has not caused suffering to another in it's production.
Sun-Rose is clear that she considers processed food as poison but she is not judgemental and encourages the reader to Be-come a raw fooder by simply eating a piece of fruit for breakfast. We do not need, and are better not, to set ourselves up in the whole Doing of raw food. Better a process that happens of itself because we want it, not as a should or an ought, not out of fear, but because our natural desire is to open to joy. Joy is the whole food to body as well as spirit.
A Radiant Life is an inspiring, loving communication of...a radiant life.
Oh and it's an easy read!
