Customer Reviews

Having been in this business for 4 years on my own1
and a number of years in other consultancies, I bought this book for a few back to basics tips.

Sorry it is the worst book I have ever got from Amazon. Even the fact it was written for an Amercian audience it was so basic and dated it was unbelievable.

Old fashioned recruitment and if people think reading this book they will get 30% fees then they are deluded. Other reviewers are clearly related.

Not Bad4
Obviously the author has experience in the industry in the USA. However there is one big big hole in this book, and that is candidate name research. As a recruitment consultant the hardest thing I find in the job every day is finding and building a list of quality candidate names. There are various ways of going into companies and getting names, but the book basically says farm out the work to independant researchers ! Not good for the bottom line... and in my mind the process is a big part of the job.

Disappointing..1
This is a distressing book, made more so by both the cost and the fact that I received on the same day an outstanding (and far less expensive) book on a very similar topic ordered through Amazon US.

There is no author to this book; rather the unknowledgable committee that cobbled it together did so by gleaning a bit here and a bit there from articles and interviews with individual recruitment consultants (not MDs) to simply yield a book to sell. It is a poor one, with little depth or understanding of our industry.

Those who wish to gain serious information to enable one to achieve serious production would be far better off reviewing the information regarding the 300+ page hardcover book "Search and Placement! A Handbook for Success" (Amazon US) by well-qualified industry authorities Larry Nobles and Steven Finkel. More experienced recruitment practitioners might be better served with the 2008 edition of Mr Finkel's remarkable book "Breakthrough!", also through Amazon US.

Either way, this book cannot be in any way recommended compared to such genuine books by genuinely knowledgable authors.
