The Great White Shark is an animal that inspires awe and fear: it is one of the world's foremost predators, equipped with the most formidable jaws in the animal kingdom. With attacks seemingly on the increase in the Western Cape region, as well as the increased popularity of Great White Shark tourism and cage diving, this giant of the deep is often in the news, but frequently for the wrong reasons. "South Africa's Great White Shark" is the definitive text for cage divers, marine biologists, tour guides, and photographers, providing in-depth coverage of Great White behaviour, ecology, conservation, ecotourism and the truth behind cage diving, chumming and shark 'attacks'.

South Africa's Great White Shark
Most certainly the best book about Great White Sharks ever published. In South Africa's Great White Shark, Michael School provides us with results from his own research at Dyer Island in South Africa and together with Tomas Peschak he fills in the gaps about what we knew of the Great Whites. The book gives us a broad picture of the biology of the Great Whites and the authors launch new theories about why they infrequently bite humans and why they go inshore at a regular basis each year. The author also gives us a clear picture of the conservation status of this endangered animal and they also describe the major threats to the Great White Sharks existence. Altogether the book has fantastic photos, is easy to read and gives many new facts and dispels several myths about Great White Sharks. The book is absolutely fantastic to read and is doubtlessly worth its money.
Excellent introduction to the Great White!
I am going cage diving near Cape Town, and wanted to find out more about the Great White Shark. This book is an interesting insight into this animal, providing information on their behaviour and many other characteristics. A must buy if you are considering going cage diving or are curious of this fascinating creature.
