An Accessible Guide to Access 2003
Some computer books seem to be written by experts for experts. Unlike many experts the author of Access 2003 in Easy Steps has the ability to explain technical matters in ways that are easily comprehensible to non-computer boffins (like myself).
Much of my spare time is taken up trying to run a voluntary charity and the key to our efficiency is our database. I expect this book will be a godsend to many who, like me, struggle to understand all the developments in computer technology.
Reading the blurb about the author I see he has done other things apart from writing about computers. Perhaps this is what makes his book not only informative but an interesting read. Thanks from one grateful reader!
Disappointing
Bought this book on the strength of the other two reviews already on the site. Am a disappointed to say the least. This book is fine if you are doing very, very basic stuff but if you want to know anything even slightly complicated then steer clear.
There is no real information on expression building, no explanation of syntax and the level of detail and variety of examples are very poor. In fact many of the examples seem to be taken straight from the Access 2003 help files. The only saving grace of this book is that it gives you a basic insight into the fundamentals of Access and is cheap.
If you are wanting to do anything complicated or advanced in Access you will need another more in-depth book to back this up. Preferably one with different examples and some explanations of expression building.
Access 2003 - simple and easy to read guide
We've just started using Access 2003 at work and the training we received was appalling. This book, however, made it all clear. It's well organised (so you can find what you want easily without having to read through loads of material) and easy to read. I shall certainly be looking out for more Computer Step books to help me with Excel and Word
