Editorial Reviews

Review
Having a baby, toddler or child intrude on your designer-designed home could be a nightmare: all those cream furnishings, ornaments, clean walls. A bit like a red rag to a bull! But in this lavishly photographed book by well-known interiors writer and stylist Judith Wilson, you will find valuable advice and inspiration on how to plan your home around and including your offspring. Whether you want to share all your rooms with your children or want sanctuaries for both yourself and them, Judith's ideas offer a wide range of styles from classic to contemporary, traditional to funky. Storage ideas for the toys and plethora of items that are associated with childhood and child-raising are novel and sensible, guaranteed to last a child's life from infancy to their teenage years with a minimum of adaptation. Full of common sense and understanding of the problems that can be faced throughout a child's life, this is a fresh look at a familiar subject, making a welcome change from the usual child-oriented design ideas. - Lucy Watson

Customer Reviews

Straight to the point. Good advice and Fantastic pictures5
YOu can read this book in a day or two but you will spend many months pouring over the wonderful pictures. This book give you to the point practical and realist idea of how to present and decorate your home for a real family. Chapter covering each room in the house and an outdoor chapter. also chapter on storage management. This book is good because being if you are a busy parent you will not have time to read lots of stuff to tell you what this book can tell you in a few pages. The pictures will give you loads of ideas of what you can do and inspire you with your own ideas. Stockist and suppliers section at the back means that you can buy the thing that are presented in the book. SEction on deigners and architects used in the houses featured. The interias are all modern, slightly minimalist with a new and old look. Very practical.

Not bad4
This book is not bad. She has some good ideas and the photos are nice. Lovely rooms and houses that are nicer than normal, as you would expect in any decorating book, but not complete fantasy. Her insistence on "great storage" every second page or so gets annoying after a while, but it has lots of food for thought about life with kids. And she considers their different needs as they grow up which is good too.
