Comfortable Country draws its inspiration from the country way of life. Colours are soft whites or muted brights, and fabrics are natural. Furnishings are a beguiling mix of the contemporary and junk-shop finds effortlessly blended together. Comfortable Country advocates the joy of keeping things simple and very, very comfortable. The first part of the book looks at the influences and elements of country life that contribute to the look. These include the Changing Seasons, the Peacefulness that manifests itself in beautifully simple interiors, Nostalgia, and Utility. Comfortable Country Rooms, the second part of the book, explores how the style works in each room of the home.

Mediterranean Country Style Ideas For Your New French Home
I love all the rustic and simple room designs both inside and out, having purchased a cheap Stone Barn in the Limousin (France) as a permanent home and my husband and I living on a single pension we plan to buy large mirrors, old floor tiles, carved woodwork, misused french/english furniture with character to paint, upholster in soft buttermilks, creams, pale mint greens/aqua's, rose pinks, well throw in long English lace curtains (no longer fashionable) 6 curtains bought from a carboot cost £3, include some Cath Kidson or similar designer reproduction rose-toile de jouy fabric, et voila!
A cheaply furnished but welcoming home in beautiful France! This book gives us everything we need in ideas to make a lovely warm home for under £500, you don't need a lot of money, some paint/brushes-detailing, upholstery hammer, sewing machine,
(Please avoid buying fabric/curtains off on-line auctions the fabric might be old and worn thin and very expensive).
