Product Description

Every year thousands of families adopt adult dogs, whether from friends, relatives, or from a rescue home. Few, however, understand the specific problems of an older pet. Behaviour can be affected by genetic factors, a dog's early socialisation, environment and training - or lack of it - as well as disease. In "Old Dog, New Tricks", David Taylor provides a fascinating insight into animal psychology, and explains how you can learn to communicate more effectively with your pet to create the perfect partnership. By learning how to be a good owner, how to assess your dogs problems, talk and listen to your dog, the essential ingredients for a well-behaved dog and step-by-step obedience exercises, you can prevent and solve all types of problem behaviour. David shows that with a bit of understanding all dogs can be well behaved and you really can teach an old dog new tricks!

Customer Reviews

Not very helpful2
I bought this thinking it would have helpful advice I could use with our two rescue dogs we already have.
It is nicely laid out but didn't really contain anything I didn't already know. It is just a bit to generalised and only covering things vaguely like serious behaviour problems and how to do the basis sit, lie stay commands.
Probably best to only get this if you know nothing about dogs and are thinking about getting a rescue dog and want alittle info to give you an idea what might be coming and help you make a more informed choice.
Not a great purchase.
