By sowing, planting, weeding and harvesting in alignment with the Moon's influence and using organic and biodynamic principles, readers will discover how to grow and harvest crops that are bursting with energy and taste. With a handy tear out section and comprehensive instructions on how to work with the moon, IN TUNE WITH THE MOON 2009 is easy to use, with month-by-month plans, charts, and reminders of how to best utilise the Moon's influence at any given time. Editorial Reviews
Review
A very comprehensive explanation of everything connected with the moon and its influence on our lives. (this review refers to the 2008 edition) ----Bernard Jarman, Executive Director of the Biodynamic Agricultural Association
Scientific evidence is increasingly demonstrating the effects of the moon on plant development. This beautifully illustrated book which explains how anyone can take account of lunar influences in their day-to-day gardening is the best we have read . (this review refers to the 2008 edition) --Alan Gear MBE & Jackie Gear MBE former directors of Garden Organic
Customer Reviews
Easy day by day guide for planting - a great find!
I have to disagree with the reviews that this is too complicated - yes there are some pages that have a lot more information than I can understand (and probably more than I need as a beginner) but the diary pages tell you exactly what to plant when and couldn't be easier to follow. I found the pull out guide at the back useful as a reminder of the growing season of each crop and which crop falls into which category (fruit, flower, root and leaf). This is my first attempt at moon planting and this book is walking me through day by day so I am absolutely delighted with it.
i wish...
i'd seen linda hull's review on this book before buying. being a novice to this way of gardening, i found the book overly complicated and found the chart really difficult to interpret.
that said, although it did have one or two useful pages on things like companion planting, crop rotation, organic remedies for diseases etc (even giving a chart on when to cut my hair!!!) it wasn't helpful enough to justify its shelf space.
In tune with the moon (book)
I found that this book made what can be a straightforward subject much too complicated. The pull-out "moon calendar" required research from the book and I did not find it helpful for frequent use. I have been using moon calendars and other reference books from Austria for many years, and hoped that this one in my native English might be easier to use. No way! I would like to refer the author to "The Art of Timing" by Johanna Paungger and Thomas Poppe - much more comprehensive and easier to use.
