A worthy expansion
This expansion for Warhammer fantasy roleply 2 covers all aspects of magic use in the empire, and details how players and GMs can employ it in their games.
The first few sections deal with the history of magic. I thought these sections were ok, and it is useful to give a nice broad overview of how magic came to be used. for gaming use this is not hugely useful, but good none the less.
The best part of the book, in my view is the section detailing each of the 8 colleges of magic. This is excellent! Each college has its own flavour and feel, and no two are greatly similar. Out of all the WFRP2 books so far, this book gives me lots of insparation for running games, especially seeing as i was cutting down magic use in my previous campaigns.
The crowning glory of this book is its depth of background material, and the minimal space taken for extra rules is welcomed. For those that want rules you've got them in the form of new spells, ritual creation and familiar creation, which are all good.
Overall this book is an excellent background book HOWEVER i cant give it five stars for the horrendous spell checking and editing! there are absent minded spelling mistakes, and repetition which is inexcusable. looking around this though you have one of the best WFRP2 books so far!
Ok.. not great
The target of this book is very specific, college magic. It pales in comparison to the realmz of sorcery from the old edition. It only gives a cursury overview of rune magic, gives only half a doezen magic items, 3 rituals, and no rules on item creation at all. While giving the "bad guy" warlock and witch careers it doesn not expand thier abilitys beyond the main rule book.
