Review
www.myshelf.com, Nov 06This is the latest in Search Press' A Passion For Paper series, and answers the question many parchment crafters have been asking: what does real South American parchment craft look like? Find out how the craft differs from country to country, and have fun creating some beautiful cards and pictures of your own.Janet Wilson introduced parchment craft to the UK back in the early 1990s and people have taken this lovely craft to their hearts. She goes through the necessary techniques briefly but in some detail, and any experienced crafter might be able to learn how to do it all from this book but mainly it is aimed at those with some previous knowledge. It is surprising how little you actually do need to take up this craft, and many of the materials you probably already have even if you are new to parchment craft. This is fortunately not one of those books that induce you to buy up the shop! There is even a bald list of basics and it is very short - have I bought too much? Reading this book after having done this craft for so many years was almost like starting again. There are some lovely projects in here showcasing the various methods, and these include cards, box and Bible covers, bags, pictures, memory album pages and even a tea light frill. Instructions are copious and pretty fool-proof, and even the list of techniques has its own set of simpler projects aimed at hooking any stray crafters into the seductive net of parchment craft. A lovely book destined for many keeper shelves.
