Everything in the garden's lovely
The book gives instructions for making one picture - the one on the front cover - if this appeals to you, and you like silk ribbon work and/or stumpwork then this book is excellent. The first quarter relates to types of thread used, which type of needle to use for what, how to transfer the designs - various methods are given and it all relates to this book (not every other needlework book). The stitch glossary is the best I've seen to date - colourful clear and comprehensive. Stumpwork techniques are clear even for a beginner and pages 40 to 123 have the flower panels in full colour with instructions for each one - including which stitches and needles to use. If you can't source the embroidery items they can be bought direct from Di van Niekerk's web site - the stockists in the book are all in South Africa. If you want a book giving more stumpwork than ribbon - try Stumpwork Embroidery by Jane Nicholas the book is amazing.
Ribbon embroidery
This is a great book, full of ideas and very well put together and illustrated. My wife is so absobed with it she doesn't speak to me anymore.
