Superb book on online poker
This is a superb book on online poker. I now have a huge collection of books on the subject of poker, and this one is the one I keep referring to.
If you take your online poker seriously, and most people should as the game is not a crap shoot or penny arcade, then this book is an affordable addition to your collection.
I found the book well written, and full of very useful content.
There are some basic maths here which are very cleverly constructed (the author used to be a bookmaker) and I found this section of the book particularly useful.
I have actually photocopied this section and have pasted it next to my computer that I play Texas Hold 'em on. I find this incredibly helpful when making decisions.
Well worth acquiring at a reasonable cover price plus the Amazon discount!
This Souffle Hasn't Properly Risen
Gordon Ramsay is probably the finest chef Britain has ever produced but, sadly this book doesn't do justice to the man. The guy we all see on TV, this "celebrity chef" no doubt reflects part of Gordon's character but this part of him; the bit celebrated in Simpson's book, is far from the whole. For a better written, more insightful account of his rise to current prominence readers would be far better advised to buy Simon Wright's excellent book Tough Cookies. Neil Simpson here celebrates the cult of the celebrity and would have done a better job delving a little deeper into the passion and hard work which won Ramsay his fame.
Well written guide to on line poker
This is a well written guide to online poker, and I particularly enjoyed the descriptions of the 3 featured players as well as the excellent section on the mathematics and odds compilations. I would recommend this book to any player, beginning or otherwise, who is considering playing online poker, especially at a high level.
