Editorial Reviews

Review
An instant hit with your average untidy youngster, especially of the male variety, who can't bear the thought of tidying their rooms and whio will lap up the toilet humour in particular, as well as warming to the bravado and the mock machismo attitudes. (School Librarian )

Young children, not so young children and adults alike all love this book! (Carousel )

Sheer, uninhibited fun. (Independent )

About the Author
M. P. Robertson was born in Parsons Green, London. He studied Graphic Design at Hounslow Borough College, where he discovered a love for illustrated books. After leaving Hounslow he spent a year drawing in museums, cathedrals and on the underground before specialising in illustration at Kingston Polytechnic. Among the influences on his style are Mervyn Peake, Heath Robinson and Odile Redon. He believes that more than merely decorating a book, illustration should be integral to the narrative. His books for Frances Lincoln are The Egg, The Great Dragon Rescue and The Dragon Snatcher; Hieronymus Betts and his Unusual Pets, Big Brave Brian, The Moon in Swampland, Edison's Fantastic Phonograph, Ice Trap!, Big Foot, Seven Ways to Catch the Moon and The Sandcastle. He currently lives in Bradford on Avon.

The kids loved it!5
My children loved this book - they couldn't wait to turn the pages and find out what else Big Brave Brian isn't afraid of. And they totally agreed with the one thing he really is afraid of! Hilarious. All little children will enjoy this book The illustrations are fantastic.

Big Brave Brian is really brave. Nothing frightens him. Not even the "Bottom-Biting Bog Monsters that terrorize the toilet", nor do the "things that go bump in the night" give Brian the "heebie-jeebies." Dramatic and powerful illustrations strengthen the image of Brian's bravery in the face of grizzly frightening creatures, often grotesque, as they stare off the pages. But wait a moment. What's this? There is something "that even Big Brave Brian is scared of..." Readers will be eager to turn the pages to find out what scares Big Brave Brian. The powerful illustrations sharpen that feeling of wonder as Big Brave Brian is not fazed, for example, by "sock-munching demons". The book is a delight and very funny.
