Excellent introduction to issues concering bible translation
If you're asking questions about what makes a good translation and wondering how to decide what version to use, I'd highly recommend this book. I'd not really read anything on the subject before but this served as a good introduction to some of the issues involved in bible translation. It presents 5 criteria for assessing a bible translation and reviews a wide variety of translations as it does so. The book tries to leave the choices up to you though inevitably it does take a definite stance on some issues. Highly recommend it!
