This is a good introduction to the art of flower arranging
This book is exactly what it says on the cover. It is a guide for those that want to do more than just look at flowers but have no previous experience of flower arranging. As an introduction to the art of flower arranging this practical illustrated hardback will guide the raw beginner through the absolute basics to relatively complex floral arrangements. Step-by-step illustrations demonstrate in a clear and concise fashion how to generate beautiful creations as illustrated in the book. This beginner's guide teaches the reader valuable tips of the trade including ways to help make fresh flowers last longer and ways to display flowers at their best. The book starts with the basic forms of arrangement design and structure using a wide range of flowers and foliage. Appropriate mixes of flower types and foliage textures are indicated and demonstrated. It also covers the important non-flower area of sundries such as designers foam, containers, stub wires and floral tape. The book provides imaginative uses on why and how these should be used.
In summary this is as good a book for the beginner as I've come across and while it is not exactly cheap, in the context of the content it represents fair value for money. It is a reference resource that flower arrangers will come back to again and again.
