Editorial Reviews

Review
'This book is for parents - it gives space to the often difficult task of persuading a school to take the issue seriously - but it's exactly this perspective that makes it so helpful for teachers.' --Gerald Haigh, Times Educational Supplement

From the Author
I suffered badly from bullying myself at school (I still suffer from flashbacks and have a total dread of passing large groups of people) and I wrote this book for many reasons, but my main reasons were -

1.I wanted parents and teachers to understand what their child is going through. Too many people still consider being bullied as some sort of rite of passage that we all have to go through, but that is a myth. NO ONE DESERVES TO BE BULLIED.

2.I felt that schools were not doing enough to stamp out bullying once they became aware of it. That's why a huge section of this book is devoted to what you can do to stop the bullying. Did you know for example that every school must have an anti-bullying policy by law and you are entitled to see it? Know your rights and use them.

3.Once the bullying has stopped that is not always the end of it. The victim's self-esteem may be so low that they need to be picked up again. The book offers advice on boosting self-esteem.

4. I didn't want others to suffer the way I had not being able to tell anyone about the bullying and having to keep it as some big secret. Once you tell about the bullying the bully loses much of their power.

Customer Reviews

Stop your child being bullied using this book.5
When I saw this book I was delighted because my two teenage daughters have been bullied pretty badly at school and despite my bringing it to the school's attention little was done and it continued. This book ensured that I was armed with the information that my wife and I needed to force the school to stop neglecting its responsibilities to our children. I used the advice in the book and the school was forced into acting. The bullying has now stopped.

Using the self-esteem boosting advice in the book we were also able to help our two lovely girls get back to the confident young women that they used to be before they were abused physically and mentally by other pupils who always did it in a gang.

If you want a no nonsense book that will stop your kids being bullied this is the one. My wife and I wouldn't have known how to do it otherwise.
