Redoutes Finest Flowers in Embroidery, brings to life in surface embroidery, the timeless, original flower paintings by the famous French artist, Pierre Joseph Redoute. The style of embroidery is unique in it's use of certain aspects of traditional and modern surface techniques, together with raised and padded areas and small amounts of stumpwork, to create a realistic 3D effect, which lends itself perfectly to the formation of flower studies. The main aim of this book is to provide the user with the simplest means to achieving the most professional finish, and to this end detailed step-by-step instructions, diagrams and coloured photographs accompany each of the 18 projects, making them suitable for both beginners and advanced stitchers alike.

Editorial Reviews
Review
Karenplatt.co.uk: Early nineteenth century botanical artist, Frenchman Pierre Joseph Redoute is renowned for his paintings of flowers. These have inspired the embroideries of Trish Burr in this book. Trish takes seventeen paintings and transforms them into beautiful embroideries with great detail and colour. She uses simple stitiches and yet manages to create a complex effect with tone. The book initiates the beginner into creating delightful stitchery with an introduction, basic materials and equipment and the stitches to master to get you off to a good start. A starter project follows to ensure you practice your new-found skills. We then get into the meat of the book, the seventeen projects from Camellia, Rosa, iris, Anemone and many more favourites. Each project gives detailed materials and colours of thread (standard available world-wide). Every aspect of this book is accompanied by crystal clear line drawings and good photographs to guide you through the process. It is a wonderful 96-page book for all lovers of flowers, embroidery and Redoute.
About the Author
Trish Burr is a self-taught embroiderer who hungrily consumes all aspects of this fine craft. Through research and practice she has developed this individual technique of surface embroidery. She particularly admires the works of the French artist P.J. Redoute, whose paintings often grace the walls of many of our homes, and has personally stitched all the projects in this book in the hope that they will be enjoyed by other stitchers globally.

An indispensible embroidery guide
I was fortunate enough to get an advanced copy of this book and was delighted to find at last a guide that truly does make this technique so SIMPLE! The stitches needed to create this complex effect are confined to the basics and the step-by-step instructions take you through from beginning to end. Diagrams are clear and easy to follow and a great starter project helps one to learn all the techniques before embarking on the main projects. A Must have for any embroidery enthusiast and an indispensible guide for beginners and advanced embroiderers alike. Lots of useful tips and hints included.
Redoute's Finest Flowers in Embroidery
An excellent book - especially for the instructions for long and short stitch. It gives instructions for this stitch in different shapes. Normally books give instructions for square shapes, this book gives instructions for petal shapes etc. and gives advice on shading etc., and tells you how to do the second row as most books just start you off on this stitch. Very good value.
