The garments are a mix of richly coloured designs, multicoloured patterns, Fair Isles, lace, bead work and cables. There are designs for gloves, scarves and hats from some of the best knitwear designers around: Kaffe Fassett; Kim Hargreaves; Sarah Dallas; Martin Storey; Sharon Peake; Louisa Harding; Brandon Mably; Lucinda Guy

Good, classic patterns to last you a lifetime
Almost all the patterns in this book are good, if you are looking for classic, wearable items in a range of yarn thicknesses (not all 4 ply!). I particularly liked the cardigan patterns, of which there are many. There are also patterns for men here, though only a few. The patterns are very 'French resistance', and the styling too is evocative of the 1940s. There is a range of designers represented here too. The Kaffe Fassett pattern is one of the few 'duds' in the book in my opinion - yet another multicoloured patchwork style man's jumper - 1980s vintage, I think.
Not what I expected
This book was a disappointment for me!! Only one or two wearable items in my opinion (the mens patterns are awful!!) Most are a variation on a theme so chances are if you already own any rowan books you may have a very similar pattern already!! Nicely presented and photographed but actual knit content left a lot to be desired!!
