Stunning depiction of trauma caused by incest
This was for me a book that once picked up could not be put down. It is a short book where every word has effect, where family dynamics are laid open.. This book is not about sex, it is not titilating. It will make you gasp make you feel as if you are a fly on the wall of that family. Most of all it will bring home with a massive shock the initial trauma of the children coping with and wanting to make better thier father's disabilities following the Vietnam war, in the way that children often cope - by acting out. The acting out goes beyond that which is assumed to be usual. As the book progresses the children are older and in their own ways are traumatised by their need to establish a bond in this very dysfunctional family. The book made me think about incest, think about dynamics, reach out for the pain and hurt that all of the members of the family unit felt, each in their own way. The book also made me sad, made me cry out wanting to make things better.

Weird....Really weird.
I found this book very odd, and sinful. A brother, trying to get his own sister (who is only 14) to have sex with him? I didn't even understand the book! It's was weird, short, and disgusting.
