Well presented book on Masonry5
A good beginners' book and has a balance between text and pictures. It is well written and even better presentation, with a lot of research on all of the symbols discussed.

The bpook through designed for masons, is likely to be informative for those outside of the craft !

Absolutely Awful1
Speaking as someone with first hand knowledge of the craft and it's workings (I am a Master Mason), I was extremely disappointed with this book. The descriptions of the rituals are incredibly inaccurate from the basic stated facts through to outlandish, unsubstantiated statements. The author can't even get the basics right - he does not even know the difference between a 'rite' and a 'working'. What the author states is not just wildly off the mark, it is completely wrong.
Virtually all of the author's statements that start with "Then the initiate will say..." are just untrue. They may exist in one particular working but as a global statement it is just untrue! There is a picture of three columns and he can't even describe them correctly. There are so many things in this book, lets say all of them, which are portrayed as fact, which I have never been asked to do or say. Just down right wrong, untrue and misleading. Utter and complete rubbish.

It is obvious to me that this book has been written by someone who has no real, first hand, knowledge of the craft - it's all clips of statement that have been taken from different sources and then stated, quite simply, as fact. Buy this book at your peril. Expert? Says who? Not me!

If you want to really know what goes on in Freemasonry then join! Buying books like this and believing it are leading you down the garden path.

has its merits as a book on masonic symbolism4
This book is written by a French Mason. Although it covers ritual with a somewhat continental flavour, it is nevertheless a well informed book, albeit short, about masonic symbolism.
