Amazing German Hardcore
My friend works in a record store and he played me a Victory Record sampler of a couple of bands called Waterdown and Thursday.
The first track started (Impress Me by Waterdown) and I was blown away, I had to own the album and ordered it straight away.
If Impress Me was, haha, impressive, then the rest of the album was absolutely awesome. Their two vocal attack creates a very interesting sound, with one singing some very beautiful melodies while the other screams his head off, you really have to hear it.
My favorites have to be Impress Me, Round Two and From A Different Angle.
So if you like hardcore, but are fed up with the America vs UK debate then check these Germans out and show them teach us all a thing or two!
Good Fresh Tunes from the mainland.
I approached this album not quite knowing what to expect. The cover looking like someone Soulwax would produce. But the opening track 'Impress Me' sets the standard for the rest of the sound.
The singer is distintly more mature and distinctive then the usual high pitched kids we're used to. (See The Used for eg)
The guitar work is post 90's metal. But its choppy and is really easy to sit and listen to. It commands you nod your head as it rolls into the next few tracks.
This band do have a few surprises tho. The track 'Round 2' is out of place at first as its very emo styled. If u think of some of the heavier Jimmy Eat World tracks u might of heard, this track wouldnt be unwelcome on one of their compliations.
But it doesnt weaken the album at all, it simple adds to an already well established sound.
A very gritty scream, mixed with more passion rather then emotional singing, puts this band above most of the mainstream acts today.
If u liked the sounds of Glassjaw and Finch. But also like listening to bands like 36 Crazyfists, Skycamefalling and Dry Kill Logic for a more harder edge. Then add this cd to your collection. Its very easy to get into and wont disapoint. Theres something for everyone on this cd.
Top Stuff!
German Hardcore a-go-go
Well, along with the Beatsteaks, these must be one of the best german bands ive heard in a long time. This album is excellent! The twin vocals sound like Dexter Holland arguing with his Evil Twin, the riffs are huge and heavy, yet with a melodic hook. Buy it.
