CD Description
The Brooklyn MC who turned heads way back when as a guest on Nas's ILLMATIC had already put plenty of sonic miles behind him before the release of AZIATIC. No matter how much he'sestablished himself as a rapper extraordinaire, though, hisskills never come off as old hat. On AZIATIC his mixture ofstreet imagery and higher-minded philosophy, the carnal andthe sublime, the hardcore hip-hop beat and the attractive pop/R&B ornamentation, all come together and ring true. Less conceptual than 9 LIVES but packing more surprising melodic hooks than PIECES OF A MAN, AZIATIC strikes a good balance of the varied facets that make up Az's vision. Consequently, this album would make a good starting point for anyone unfamiliar with the work of this uncompromising but accessible artist.

I'm Backkkkk!
AZ is back for sure
Every joint is great, no need to use the fast forward button as your feel every song....the beats and lyrics are tight as hell.
Nas features on Essence, ill duo right there....no other real big cats feature which is good.
Although I think it is short you can listen to it over and over again without losing interest. If it was a bit longer and of the same quality I would give it a 5.
You should cop this for real, you won't be disappointed....
AZ at his best with fourth LP
I have been a AZ fan since Doe or Die and I personally think this is his best album since then. The tight lyrics on "I'm Back", the reflection on "Wanna Be There". AZ even warms it up with party tunes like the stripper anthem "Take It Off" and the party inpsired "Hands In The Air". He even has something for the "real" hip-hop fans that dont enjoy party songs. With ill tracks like "Rebirth" and "Once Again" he satisfies everyone. My only complaint is that the album is too short but hey its quality music and a must purchase.
well 3 to 4 stars! A Chilled album
I'm not the biggest fan of AZ, but this see him taking a different more laid back approach to his tunes. Many of the beats are reminscent of the old Motown classics and it is clear what infulence they have had here. The Essence with Nas is brilliant with their usual alternating lines and A1 performance is the best track on the album with a more upbeat tone and great lyrics. The Whole album is well produced and all credit to AZ for trying to better his performance, which i think he does lyrically on this. However this is not 9 lives ( in my opinion his best) and more of a background music album rather than one to get you in the active mood. A nice edition in your collection, worth the purchase!
