Customer Reviews
prestige hi dome pressure cooker
We have also had a hi dome pressure cooker for some 20+ years and thought we would treat ourselves for Christmas. I ordered the cooker through a local catalogue and when it came we were delighted with the shiney cooker. We could not seem to get it up to pressure not matter how we tried. We telephoned the Prestige customer care line and they kindly sent out a new seal and weight. It still unfortunately will not seal and steam billows out of the sides.
We now use the old one, which incidentally was my grandmother's, and apart from looking a bit old and battered, works a treat.
Nothing but problems!
Like the two previous reviewers we have had NOTHING but problems with this pressure cooker! It replaced a 25 years old one and leaked almost from the start. I wrote two letters to the makers and gained nothing for my pains apart from the tactic of supplying a new free gasket (we'd only had the thing a matter of weeks and hardly used it - because it leaked!). But they did offer to "have a look at it" if I returned it at my expense!! The new gasket made a marginal difference for a week or so and then it started blasting steam out as before! Believe me, you just do not want to buy one of these useless and utterly unreliable cookers.
Pressure - what pressure?
We bought one in 2003. My mother had a Prestige hi-dome, and I helped her in the kitchen. The gasket lasted for years. We got a Presto soon after we married - brilliant, but then the gaskets were no longer available. I bought a 2nd hand Tefal - ancient, but it worked, but not designed for 15psi. We bought a new Prestige. Now on our 4th gasket, we seem to have managed to get a seal half-a-dozen times. Tried all manner of tricks. Hopeless. I've been using a pressure cooker for over 40 years. This is a really unsatisfactory piece of kitchen equipment.
