ED GEIN- Judas Goats And DieselEaters
Well it's not easy listening that's for sure. Grindcore may be coming to a creative full stop as more metallic influences and scene trends jump the boat but Ed Gein have neatly manoeuvred any standstill with this, their second full length.
Completely without melody `Judas Goats and Dieseleaters' is all out aggression all of the time. As with Converge or Daughters heaviness here is never sacrificed for guitar solos or ham-fisted attempts at atmosphere. There are some brief ethereal respites during `Pee Wee Herman...' and `United Ninety Three' but these only serve to make the neighbouring violent spasms of noise more terrifying. The lyrics match the intensity of the music too. From the Bush administration to racism and religion; real issues are screamed down and dissected throughout. That there are only three pessimistic chaps behind all the noise isn't just impressive it's downright scary.
Unwavering, blunt and destructive, this is roiling hate in 14 tracks. Your ears have been warned.
