Essential listening for Scrubs/Zach Braff fans
Like most of the other reviewers, I first heard Joshua on Scrubs, the tracks Winter and Closer being used in probably my two favourite episodes to date. I snapped up the album when i saw it available on itunes early this year and it's been on my "most played" list ever since.
If you're a fan of Zach Braff's work in general you'll absolutely love this...Joshua is Zach's best mate in real life and anyone who's enjoyed the soundtracks to Garden State and The Last Kiss will feel right at home with this album from the first listen.
It's true that a lot of the songs on this album have a real Simon & Garfunkel feel to them, there's a profound integrity to Joshua's lyrics and melodies, something lacking in so much popular music today. There's also something to suit all moods, whether you're in a reflective mood or are just buzzing about life, it encompasses everything.
I really hope Joshua makes his mark in the UK, because I just can't stop telling people about him and he deserves every success he gets, but then in some ways I want his songs to remain personal to me and unspoiled by overexposure...i guess that's a reflection of how much the album means to me.
What a discovery
I had not hear of Radin until I purchased The Fray. This album came highly recommened so I thought I would give it a gamble. It is awesome, so mellow, makes for a well chilled listen. Star Mile is great, these photographs is beautiful. If you like accoustic sounding chilled out music with a slightly haunting undertone, GET THIS NOW!!!!!
Most Excellente
Oh how unusual and what a suprise! I discovered Joshua Radin on Scrubs!
Having only known 3 tracks on this album when I bought it (two from Scrubs and one cover track) I was unfamiliar with most of it: On my first few listens, I thought that it was quite samey, and almost quite durgy.
But my faith in Zach Braff's music taste pulled me through! Once I familiarised myself with each individual track, I realised how brilliant it really is.
As with most albums, you have to give it a few listens to really appreciate it.
