Product Description

Drummer, guitarist, and songwriter Mike Kinsella was activein Chicago's indie music scene throughout the 1990s, playing in bands like Cap'n Jazz and American Football. Owen is Kinsella's solo project, and 2006's AT HOME WITH OWEN (appropriately named as the album was recorded in the artist's home studio) continues in the vein of previous Owen releases, delivering quietly melancholic, emo-tinged songs. Subtle electronica backdrops flesh out Kinsella's acoustic guitar and cracked, expressive vocals. And while the lyrics tread familiarterritory about heartbreak and self-doubt, they do so in a way that's convincing and, ultimately, winning.

Customer Reviews

This would be the choice5
If you had the choice between choosing between this album and a million others I would recommend this one purely because it's beautiful. The lyrics bring about such powerful imagery that you can just sit there and look at a wall while shadows of what Owen (Kinsella) is saying will dance in front of you. This album is perfect and no matter how many times I listen to it, it never gets old. Buy it!

Not Just At Home...5
This album is, shamefully, my first introduction to Owen. My musical preferance is usually hardcore "hc" punk but this certainly won't be my last purchase of Owens amazing, shiver-inducing music. To cut a long story very short, I fell in love with this album and have played it on repeat for about 3 weeks now, and intend to play it a lot more! It's calm, honest, at times very romantic and sweet, and what I'd believe to be a true reflection of someones soul.
Worth all the time in the world!
I usually put stand-out tracks here, but the whole album is just so good so I won't even bother. My favourite track is probably "a bird in hand" though! Happy Listening!

Beautiful5
An amazing album from Kinsella, One of these days is probably the defining track of his career, a hauntingly beautiful album. You need this album in your life.
