Editorial Reviews

CD Description
Sixth studio album by Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys. A raucous mix of Green Day and The Pogues, the band have made a successful career out of the sort of life-affirming, joyous music featured on this album. Includes the tracks 'Famous For Nothing', 'State Of Massachusets' and 'Shattered'.

Customer Reviews

Big, loud, uncomplicated Irish punk. Great stuff.5
OK, so before someone comments this let's get something out of the way - The Dropkick Murphys are from Boston USA and not Ireland. That out of the way, let's get to the review.
This may well be the strongest album that DKM have produced, if not then it's certainly on par with Blackout and The Warriors Code so if you liked those albums go right ahead and order this because - bar an increased harshness in some of the lyrics - this is that very same stuff and just as enjoyable.
For those of you new to the band they've got a couple of tracks posted on their myspace page so if you want to hear some full-length tracks pop over there and take a look, it's a pretty representative sample of their stuff.
This is big, it's loud, it's high-energy and it's guaranteed to get you moving, it's very enjoyable and really leaves on an adrenaline rush at the end of the album. If you're a fan of the Irish punk scene or if you just want to get your hands on something uncomplicatedly fun to listen to then this is definitely an album to check out.
Highly Recommended.

Meanest of Times5
Like all the previous DKM albums, this is a top quality CD made by a top quality artist. There is a good range and variety of tracks including 'State of Massachusetts' with its catchy banjo riff, 'Flannigan's Ball' featuring Ronnie Drew (dubliners) & Spider Stacy (pogues) and typical Dropkick Murphy's songs such as 'God Willing'. Overall, an album i would highly recommend

Aside from the fact that the Dropkick Murphys are from Boston, Massacheussets, rather than Ireland, this is a very strong album. It's a grower. It might not be as immediate as some of their previous work, such as Blackout, and the vocals are a bit harsher, but it has depth and it really starts to get hold of you after a few listens.
