Nice5
I am a recent convert to the church of Om.I liked some Sleep before but only heard Om from Pilgrimage on.
I like their meditative take on minimal doom.Just drums and bass are a good recipie for blissful heaviness.I like the title God is Good,if nothing else it should get the black metal hardcore spluttering into their drinking horns as they make their plans to upset the local vicar, and give them something to rail against when they get on to the adolescent power fantasy forums.

Variations of a theme5
We know what to expect from Om now. Al Cisneros' meditative simple yet complex bass riffs, droney vocal mantras and franky unitelligible vocal mantras. However, Om do offer something new on this album. A droning tambura lends a distinctivly eastern feel to 'thebes', a flute appears somewhere and something that amazingly sounds like a guitar also pops up. While the replacement of Chris Hakius on drums may worry some longtime Sleep and Om fans they have nothing to worry about. Grail's Emil Amos style may be slightly different but his drumming complements Cisneros' bass perfectly. As always Steve Albini's production cannot be faulted.
So, something of a progression for Om, and an essential album even for the casual fan. God Is Good
