The Best Metal Writer on the Greatest Metal Band5
Martin Popoff is that rare thing : a music writer who never makes factual errors by rehashing other people's poor research, makes perceptive and original insights and (most of all) doesn't give a damn for conformity. Not only that, you can trust his judgement, as he knows the metal genre inside out and back to front. Plus he can write like an angel (I know, as I'm a published author myself and he has my respect and then some).

I've read several hundred rock and roll books, like all kinds of rock music and have loved Judas Priest for almost thirty years, buying their albums, going to their gigs and so on. There has always been a shortage of books on Priest, so the recent biography 'Judas Priest: Defenders of the Faith' was very welcome, but (sadly) woefully inadequate when it came to covering the music. Popoff, of course, is spot on - he nails' the significance of Priest as the definitive metal band and champions their 1976-1979 recording career as the pinnacle of achievement in the genre.

So for those of you who love Priest, those of you who don't know yet how great thier finest stuff is and all of you fashionable types who buy just what the music mags tell them, read this brilliant book - for the metal cognescenti understand that it's not AC/DC or Metallica or whomever you may care to name are the kings, but Priest who are the truly definitive and protean metal band, who should by now be attaining the mainstream respect accorded to Sabbath, Zeppelin, AC/DC and Metallica. And Popoff will explain why...

Finally, I should mention the book is packed with lovely colour and B&W photos, including many marvellous depictions of collectable material (ticket stubs, flyers, album covers and so on), making it essential for all priest fans. Rock Forever, Martin !
