A great overview of the artist
The 2 CDs in Electric Joe Satriani make a great introduction so Joe's music to anyone. The selection of tracks, which was made in part by fans on his official internet site is superb. It gives you the more rocking tracks as well as the ballad type pieces.
For anyone who is unaccustomed to his music, his excellent taste in straight-ahead rock creates excellent musical basis for him to play solo guitar melodies over the top of. At times, his playing can become highly virtuosic- this guy taught Steve Vai himself, as well as many other famous guitarists. However, he knows when to shut up, and has a brilliant ability to give each song exactly what it needs.
For experienced fans, this CD contains two previously unreleased songs, The Eight Steps and Slick. The former was actually a bonus track on the Japan release of Strange Beautiful Music but Slick's not been seen at all before. Every recording has been remastered, and it all sounds bigger and better than before. And to top it all off, Joe writes about each and every song in the liner notes, explaining things related to the tracks.
A great introduction to the new Satriani fan, and a must for experienced fans too.
This IS Joe Satriani
As a huge fan of Joe's, I bought this CD the second it hit our waters. For me, and other huge Satriani fans, this is basically all about theliner notes inside that Joe has written himself that give a reallyinteresting insight into what was going through his head when he wrotethese pieces and generally what makes Satch tick.
For Satriani newbies or less-dedicated followers, this is a great CD thathas the Joe Satriani you'll ever need in one place. Songs like "TheMystical Potato Head Groove Thing" demonstrate Joe's amazingguitar-playing ability, "Love Thing" shows off Joe's beautiful tone andsong-writing techniques and tracks like "Summer Song" and "Mind Storm"just show off how much Joe Satriani ROCKS!
All-in-all, a great CD for anyone who just likes to have their foottapping. The two bonus tracks are slightly disappointing and I would haverathered one CD had all his slow songs and ballads on it while the otherhad his more upbeat stuff though. Those points seem trivial though afteryou've just been blown away by how someone so technically gifted couldpossibly be able to have so much song-writing talent on top of that.
the insite to Joe
the c.d.was the first i bought of joes of many. The anthology is a great c.d. to buy if you want to explore the vastness of joe satraini's playing ability. Such a diverse c.d. and explores many different areas of music. There is no one quite like joe so buy this album and have it blown yur mind
