Manufacturer's Description
In a real-life version of The Cannonball Run, every year a collection of the craziest people in the world gather to take part in a 3000 mile road-race across Europe (or the USA in 2002). Danni Minogue, Happy Mondays, Fun Lovin' Criminals and the Jackass MTV crew have all taken part in the most amazing road spectacle ever seen. Can you imagine a 3 lane wide convoy of 40 super cars, all doing 140mph behind a blacked out Russian Government vehicle screeching their way to a gigantic party in St Petersburg? Now this unbelievable adventure comes to your PS2. Take any route you can, to get from checkpoint to checkpoint in the shortest possible time. Break speed limits, evade roadblocks and escape The Gumball Police Squad in your quest to become the Gumball 3000 champion.

Pretty Good Stuff
When i first recieved this game i was sceptical as i am not really a fan of racing games. However, having read other reviews and seen previews, i was expecting something good. The game has modes of play, and then other modes within them. For example you can go for the big race, the full on gumball 3000, where you start in 21st position and have to work your way up, over numerous days and checkpoints. Or you can choose to have a single race to try to earn more points to unlock more cars etc.
The gumball police are nothing special, having played games such as burnout 2 and need for speed, but it can be fun wrecking them. The game could get boring after a while so within each big race are various challenges eg: collecting booze for the parties in an ambulance before the time runs out!!! This gives the game variation. The pre race videos are really good, and help keep the realism of the game.
Probably the main thing letting this game down is the graphics which are not fantastic, but not too bad.. this is a very fun racer, but not for anyone who wants too much realism and is a fan of full on racing.
OVERALL PRETTY COOL
CHeck this out
Yesterday i finally gave in waiting for a ps3, and used my student loan to get a ps2 bundle with a few games. Since they didn't have most of the games i wanted, i was forced to pick gumball 3000. I was cautious, and when i got home it was the last game i tried out. To my surprise, it was actually pretty good. I had heard of Gumball before because it was on Jackass, so i figured that it must be pretty good fun. Check this out.
You basically get to go through the game beating all the other supermodels (all the drivers are women) in races ranging from across europe. There are 10+ tracks with various weather and times, and loads of cars from an ambulance to a zippy sports car. Anyway, the further you get the more you unlock. it's quite funny seeing the women swearing at each other as they overtake, and the game never pretends to be something it isn't.
What it is is a great game thats got great graphics and gameplay. I'm not sure about the lifespan cause i only got it yesterday, but i would guess about 25-30 hours plus multiplayer (wicked, but you have to unlock some stuff), so pretty long for a driving game. Great fun
worst racing game ever!
Brought it, what a dissappointment. poor graphics, poor playability and just not very well constructed or thought out.
The pics of women you can win are the only highlight of the game as the police cars are poor and unrealistic.
i completed it in around 15hrs, which is nothing for a racing game - clocked in at 100 hrs on GT3 to get around 79% (still on 95% blast those time trials!).
Overall - don't buy this, its a waste of money and not as good as you think it will be
