Excellent bundle
So here's the deal. You can buy these speakers for about one pound less without the solar panel. However, by saving your one pound, you also don't get the universal main adapter...

The K3000ST speakers are ideal as travel speakers or, with the mains adapter (as per this package) as an iPod dock where you can also charge up any of the standard iPods that are around.

This bundle also comes with a lead so that you can plug them into any normal headphone socket on your MP3 or laptop.

The claimed 6 watts of output is a bit of poetic license. Yes, it is 6 watts (music power), but the real value is about 3.8 watts RMS (for the non technical this means it will be fine in your bedroom, but don't expect to blast the whole of your living room).

The speakers come in a nice zipped box, which can be used to carry the speakers, iPod, mains adapter, etc.. They also come with a soft pouch that is ideal if you just want to take the speakers around and run them on the internal batteries.

One point of note is that on the Powertraveller website, they state that is comes with rechargeable AA batteries. The batteries are standard alkaline and, even if you do use rechargeable in the speakers, they won't charge from the speakers.

Overall: excellent travel speakers that can also double as an iPod dock.

Great eco credentials, sounds ok for a travel system
Since buying the SoundTraveller Solar Powered K3000ST Bundle and solar charger for my iPoD, I haven't yet needed to insert the batteries or plug it into the mains to listen to my iPod on the dock. It's very compact and comes with a handy travel case, so I'll be taking it on holiday with me. The dock is small and, as you'd expect from a speaker that size, the sound quality is not exactly high fidelity, but if you're listening to Radio 4 podcasts then it's fine. It does struggle a bit with pop music but is generally better with chamber orchestral music, as long as you're not expecting a big sound from it.

Soundtravella Solar Powered K3000St Bundle
I love these speakers - I had the K2000 for three years and they stopped working just before we were due to go away this year. However, the newer version are just as good (although I preferred the piano black finish to the old ones) and with the additional ipod and solar power features these are a huge bonus. We have just been on holiday in the south of Spain, came back Friday 11 September 2009, and the solar panel works fantastically in the sun. These speakers will be played in the back garden until the candles dwindle and go on holiday with us every time we go, way beyond the candles dwindling. Pure genius x peace x Anni
