Customer Reviews
One can NEVER have too much!
I dropped a large hint, and was given this absolutely gorgeous book as a Christmas present - wow. Green & Black's chocolate is sublime, and I was looking forward to cooking from the book; my first foray did not disappoint. I made one of the mousses, which was quite simple, and had all five dinner guests begging for the recipe. A batch of cookies went over a treat, as well, as a leaving gift for a co-worker. Bravo to G&B for producing this fabbo book - any choccy-mad person or foodie who's hesitating about buying it , stop faffing around and buy the book! If nothing else, it makes a swell read (whilst nibbling a G&B bar, of course).
beautiful book with lots of new recipes you'll be dying to try
I borrowed this book from my Mum and am very reluctant to return it! It is beautifully presented with lovely big pictures of many of the recipes interspersed with information and more pictures about the chocolate production process. THe recipes are all mouthwateringly good each with an introduction on its background.
There are many common dishes such as chocolate mousse, ice cream and florentines but they are balanced with a mix of more unusual dishes both sweet and savoury from around the world. So far I have made chocolate and salted caramel tart (who'd think a teaspoon of salt could taste so wonderful?!), italian venison agrodolce (sweet & sour - try it, your taste buds will thank you!) and white chocolate cardamom mousse and they have all been stunning.
In fact, I think it's about time Mum got her book back so she can have a go - I'm going to order my own copy right now!
Excellent if you love chocolate!
I have used a few recipies from this book. They're relitively easy as long as you have everything prepared so you can move between stages quickly. They work every time and look almost as good as the pictures! The chocolate brownie recipe is the best I've ever tasted, I substitute the cherries with chocolate chunks. There are all sorts of recipies for any occasion, including starters, main courses and desserts! The only downside is that some of the best recipes are quite expensive to make as they require a lot (usually around 300g) of good quality chocolate and cream etc., but always ingredients you can get at your local supermarket.
