A brilliant adventure5
I am currently preparing things to GM 'Terror in Talabheim'...and from reading it I have to say it is very well written and very good. It is not your standard city adventure and the plots are not as obvious for the characters as it was in past adventures.

The first part of the book describes in detail everything there is to know about Talabheim. It also includes maps of Talabheim and its surroundings.

The second part is the adventure which is divided into 7 chapters. The adventure itself is designed for first or second career characters (first career characters will have a tough time though). The book prepares the GM for all eventualities and still allows the players their freedom.

Not to spoil too much I think it's save to say that I'd buy 'Children of the horned rat' in addition to this book if you don't have it already.

Colourful and Intelligent5
Terror in Talebheim is not a good supplement. It's a GREAT one. Full of descriptive literature in every aspect fom the very first paragraph, to the last.

The first part of the book lovingly describes Talabhiem in all it's colour, being careful not to overload the reader with too much information and take-away their creative freedom. You'll find everything from city layouts and places of note, to descriptions of some of it's inhabitants and factions which will get your GM brain ticking for possible future adventures or campaigns.

The second part is where the book truly comes to life though. Terror in Talabheim is a well written and intelligent adventure that paces itself over seven chapters. Every NPC is described perfectly, giving you the impression that they actually belong in the adventure and they have their own goals and motives that keep them going, or eventually lead to their downfall. This isn't just a hack 'n' slash D&D a-like either. It challenges the PC's to think what they're doing and constatly be on their toes to such a degree that any combat that does occur is memorable.

All round fantastic product. *****

Well designed adventure5
Terror In Talabheim is a well thought out adventure.
The book is divided into two - the background and Environs of Talabheim being the first, the well paced and increasingly entertaining adventure the second.
There are abundant adventure seeds in the first half, not least of which is the city itself - being located inside a crater is surely enough to get the immagination racing on its own! The various talented authors paint a beleivable and inventive society of Talabheimers - the varied locations and characters are both highly plausable.

The adventure begins by introducing the characters to the area immediately outside Talabheim, giving the PCs a clear sense of drama, depth of narrative and a greater determination to get into Talabheim, which for more blase PCs who haven't visited the city before may at first glance appear to be "just like any other city, albeit one inside an ancient crater".
The urgency surrounding the PC's choice of actions in order for the story to progress meaningfully is explored in much useful detail, and there are numerous ways the GM can persuade (or nudge) his gamers to advance - some more implicit than others but all well catered for.
Another nice touch found in the second half is an essential adventure overview included on one page, giving the GM easy access to key plot developments, and saving the need to sketch one out for him or herself.
GMs will feel well-nourished and PCs will have little difficulty placing themselves within the active Taalbaston walls of Talabheim!
5 star.
