Underrated
It pains me to see how many Mnemic fans utterly slate this album. I personally think it's their best work so far with Audio Injected Soul coming close second and shortly after that, Mechanical Spin Phenomena. I would imagine that the only reason people render this their least impressive release is because of the new singer and, granted, new members are hard to get used to in a band you love. For me though, this album has everything a Mnemic fan would want; the drums are pounding, the guitars are crunching, the bass is ballsy and the production itself is quite impeccable. The new singer, Guillaume Bideau, is one of the best vocalists I've heard in a long time. His vocal patterns are incredible as are his vocal harmonies for the choruses and his screams sends shivers down your spine. So if you're like me and you ignore the constant unfortunate negativity that flows from here to eternity, you would do well to pick up this album and give it a listen for yourself and discover that it does (for want of a better phrase) kick ass.
tredding water
mnemic are, sorry were a fantastic band the expertly blended the electronic elements of fear factory with the noisy thrash of meshuggah.
a quite unique and effective sound. it would appear that now they have abbandoned the noisy element and have gone for a slightly harsher sounding fear factory feel to their music.
unsurprising really considering christian olde wolbers produced this album!
so ok the songs are ok,they arent great and they arent bad, they just feel very, very samey, and not even half as unique as they did.
the new vocalist fills the shoes of michael very well but the cold harshness in their sound that made them sound alot heavier than most and gave them a cold sharp egde has now gone.
"in the nothingness black" and "psykorgasm" are great songs but the rest just blur into one with little varity and pace, style, structure or difference for want of a better word!
a shame really considering how much better the other albums are
takes some getting used to
Over all i was pleased with this buy.it is actually the first Mnemic album i bought, but not the first i listened to, having listened to many of Audio Injected Soul and MSP.Passenger starts off mainly the same, with humanaut,in the nothingness black and psykorgasm sounding a bit samey, but the more listens the more you get used to this.the stand out songs for me are meaningless, then the songs in the 2nd half of the album.i personally think the album gets better towards the second half, and that the first half is a bit of a jumble.dont get me wrong, the songs are good, but i think they could've ordered them a bit better.in itself it is a good follow up but i just think there are a few areas where a bit more work could be done to the start(except for humanaut, which is a very good opening)unluckily they didnt hav 3.5 stars so it has to b 3.
