"Young Wisden" is the perfect introduction to one of the most enjoyable world sports - cricket. Packed with colour photographs and illustrations, this beautifully laid out book really brings the game to life. The author takes a wry look at every aspect of the game that a new fan could wish to know about, including: the basics - from how to read the scorecard to a crash course in the language; types of cricket - the sport in all its forms, from beach cricket to the five day test; batsmen, bowlers, fielders, keepers and thinkers - what it takes to be great in each position and plenty of info on the best there has been; the world of cricket - the test nations, the great grounds, and the fans on tour; and history, humour and numbers - the playing greats, the grudge matches, the records, and villains and tricksters. Written for children, there are sure to be plenty of adults taking a look over the shoulder at this wonderful introduction to cricket.

Editorial Reviews
Review
'Time de Lisle's 'Young Wisden' is a cracking idea. A guide to cricket for kids - when they can wrestle is from their parents' grasp, that is. Stats, laws and dates are all in here, but so are celebrated sledges, roly-poly captains and wacky wicket keepers.' Time Out (December 2007) 'Incomparable really, different planet stuff. It is comprehensive without being bewildering, colourful but not showy, confident but never esoteric. It is also superbly designed.' Wisden Cricketer 'If you're a cricket-mad parent and want to get your child(boy or girl) as passionate about cricket as you are, save yourself a lot of time...and let Tim de Lisle do the business for you. He and his book are much more likely to suceed - trust us.' Sport (Main) 'packed with information and superbly designed, this is perfect for the youngsters who prefer Pietersen to Rooney.' The Times 'The cricketing world's bible specially written for children.' The Economist (December 2007)
Simon Lister, Wisden Cricketer, November 2007
"Any boy or girl who is showing an interest in cricket and likes reading should be pushed in the direction of this book.'
Tony Hodson, Sport, 12 October 2007
"If you're a cricket-mad parent and want to get your child as passionate about the game as you are, save yourself a lot of time and probably fruitless effort and instead let Tim de Lisle do the business for you. He and his book are much more likely to succeed."
Customer Reviews
Excellent book for young cricket fan!
We bought this book when our son, 6 was gripped by the Ashes, he has had hours of pleasure from it and shared all sorts of information with us and his sisters (8 and 3). There is a lot of reading in it and I think would be suitable up to around 10 years old. The new version will be high on his birthday list I think.
