Expensive plasic stick for a Harry Potter enthusiast5
My overall impression is that this is a lot to pay for a plastic stick. Having said that it is very well made stick and has an authentic feel - preseted in a beautiful box which is an important part of the wand owning experience. I hesitated for a long time but eventually decided that as my daughter really wanted an Hermione Granger wand I would treat her to one. I was very disappointed when I discovered that it was not the one that lights up, perhaps even more so when I realised that there was nothing to say it would light up - so it was my fault. It is well made and is suitably wighted for the 'swish and flick' required for perfoming magic, although a little heavy for a child. I am not sure if it qualifies best as a toy or a collectors item. But be warned despite its authenticity if you loose it will not magically reapear.
If you really really want one - then it is worth the money othewise don't bother.

GENIUS!5
Another birthday present for my daughter in May when she was 9. She was sooooooooo excited because we had seen a cheaper plastic Hermione wand in a "bargain shop" for a few pounds and she said she would have that for her birthday as she knew I was paying for a party as well. But knowing her precious, non-selfish heart was set on the real thing, that is what she got and I cannot put into words her reaction when she realised.... I knew the plastic one would have ended up broken or unplayed with, but this is played with and put carefully back into the box each time. It may seem frivolous but I think it teaches children that if they get something that bit more expensive they are being trusted to look after it.
