About the Author
Darren W Ritson is an author and ghost hunter and lives in North Tyneside with his long-term partner Jayne Watson and their daughter Abbey. After experiencing poltergeist activity at the age of thirteen in France in 1986, his path was set and he decided to try to learn more. Over the next 20 years he built up a library of books, magazines and literature on the paranormal including the works of the late Harry Price (1881-1948) Peter Underwood FRSA, and Guy Lyon Playfair. The North East Ghost Research Team was founded in May 2003 and over the years the author has worked with who he considers to be some of the best paranormal investigators in the country.

Good book for ghost enthusiasts4
Having just finished 'In Search of Ghosts' I can say that overall I enjoyed this as an undemanding read. The book is written in a lively, conversational style and details both the author's active investigations into allegedly haunted locations and a basic 'Ghost Hunters travelogue' about other spooky areas of the UK.
Maybe not as engaging to more experienced readers of this genre the book is nevertheless a good introduction to those casually interested in, or as an introduction to, the facinating subject of Ghosts and Hauntings.
Sadly, the author has been rather let down by the publishers obviously not proof-reading the text before publication - there are a number of rather obvious spelling and grammatical errors (such as weather instead of whether, nly being printed instead of only, etc) which spoil an otherwise diverting enough read - it is to be hoped that these errors are corrected in future editions.
However, as the author does make mention in this book of his proficiency in the Martial Arts, I would not be brave enough to mention the language errors to his face - lest I become the subject of some future Ghost Hunters list of spectres !

Fabulous5
If you want a great read and want to be enthralled with history aswell as ghostly tales then this is the book for you.
Darren has done a great job of compiling reports and information from local communities around the UK of which he has visited with his team or on solo trips.
Get your mitts on one now i promise you will not be dissapointed.

Great Read!!! Highly Recommended!!!5
I am not sure if NC Woolsey knows but the second version of In Search of Ghosts is out and is a far better version than the first (the first still being a good book of course). The first book is published by GHP which are a self-publishing company so this will account for the grammatical errors as I believe they don't provide a proof-reading service. I found no grammatical errors in the second version. In regards to the book being "not as engaging to more experienced readers of this genre", has Mr Wooley saw the mini reviews on the back cover of the 2nd issue? There are positive comments from leading researchers in the paranormal world such as Peter Underwood, Guy Lyon Playfair, Dave Wood and Alan Murdie, which clearly demonstrates that this book is engaging to the more experienced reader.
Having bought the book and read it from cover to cover again, I find that there are some brand new sections that have been included in this volume which were just as exciting as the first. Complete with dozens of full colour pictures, this volume is most certainly a must for those with interests in ghosts and investigating. Bring on the next one!
