Flip MinoHD video camcorder
Having looked around at a number of video cameras, it seemed that Flip Mino was the current market leader in the mini camcorder category. Checking it out I saw that they had just released an HD model, the Flip MinoHD. More expensive, but worth the try and it is a mixtuire of simplicity and pure excellence. It is pocket friendly, comes only in black (unless you go to their US site and get one of the jazzy options there but the black is classy). Extremely simple to use and you can video for an hour at 1,280x720 resolution on its 4GB built in memory. The battery life on mine has lasted this hour with ease, plus numerous views, so I can confirm it lasts at least 2 hours which is fine for most purposes. The USB connector flips up and out (hence the name) so easy to connect to your laptop, download and charge but still leave room for other items needing USB access.

Only down side I can see is that the screen is perhaps a little small to watch on, so best to plug it straight into your HD TV, or your laptop to watch. The video quality is great for something this size, bigger will be better, but my Mino can stay with me like a mobile phone. Which brings me to one fun point, you can walk around with it as if a mobile phone, people think you are listening to someone, yet you can discretely video, which means some natural and unexpected results...

Mine has just arrived and it's incredible - small, light, easy to use, great value (it really does take great HD movies) and the software which it comes with is also great.

Difficult to see how this isn't going to totally take off...

Flip Mino HD
MinoHD 4GB Camcorder (Black)

I purchased a Mino Hd 4 weeks ago from Amazon.

The camcorder was faulty and will not recharge, there appears to be a problem with the "HD" as I was directed to the website where various methods were suggested to reset it etc., to make it recharge. non of them worked.
I returned the Mino HD to Flip for replacement / repair almost 4 weeks ago, and I am still waiting for a replacement.
Their Customer Service department appears not to be interested.

I could not recommend the purchase of a Flip Mino HD until the battery re charging problem has been solved.
