Editorial Reviews
Review
""It includes a wealth of clinical examples which illustrate the spectrum of the disorders, and with which the sufferer may identify. . .This book does not claim to be a cure, but says it 'can help you get much better, so that the eating disorder doesn't rule your life anymore.' It is clearly and directly written, from a wealth of practical experience, and does indeed provide the sufferer with a 'survival kit' on the road to recovery. It can be recommended, not only to sufferers, but to professionals dealing with these patients, and to family and friends who wish to become involved in the recovery process..""
-Anne Ward, "Behavior Research and Therapy
"This is an excellent book, and a model for self-help manuals. The basics of bulimia nervosa and other binge eating disorders are explained in clear, simple language. The suggested ways for self-help are carefully described, with examples. Essential information about food, the body, dieting, the ill-effects of vomiting and laxative abuse, is given. Areas of life that need to be looked into and modified in a comprehensive approach to these problems are discussed. Further readings, attractive and funny cartoons, and detailed practical advice with regard to how achieve one's aim, add to what the book has to offer. . .a splendid publication..""
-P. de Silva," Sexual and Marital Therapy
"Well-motivated adults and older adolescents with mild to moderate disorders will find this book valuable ... Therapists will find it helpful either by incorporating some of its suggestions into their own practice, or recommending as reading to their clients..""

From the Back Cover
Easy to read and illustrated with many real-life examples, this book addresses the specific problems faced on a daily basis by bulimia sufferers. The only self-help programme that has been evaluated in a randomised controlled trial, it provides detailed step-by-step advice for dealing with this condition. Unlike other less problem-oriented books currently available on the subject, this book concentrates on the key behaviour changes necessary for the sufferer to achieve a happier and more fulfilled life. Theory is closely interwoven with practice and the book draws together real problems and solutions experienced by hundreds of sufferers.

Fantastic
This book is easy to follow. You can either read it all in one go or dip into whenever you feel like it. I would suggest it to everyone who is trying to get help for an eating disorder and (as in my case) those who have received the help and are tentatively trying life out without the support of a counsellor anymore. It provides that bit of support when you're feeling wobbily and helps you to continue to move forward with the confidence that you aren't alone.
Excellent- what more can i say
This book is really good for anyone who is trying to recover from an eating disorder especially from bulimia. It is very easy to read and understand and very easy to realte to.
Brilliant if you are serious about recovery.
I am in recovery from bulimia and have used this book in my therapy sessions. It is very realistic but you have to be prepared to work hard and refer back to it often if you want to see results.I have had bulimia for 11 years and have tried many other self help books, this is the only one that has helped because it does not just focus on eating problems but also on psychological and life issues. However,it does work much better in the context of therapy or with a close friend who can help you through as the book itself recommends.
