Acid House is twenty years old in 2008! The summers of 1988 and 1989, collectively a period known as The Second Summer Of Love, produced a club scene that spawned dance music culture as it is today. In nine previous editions of true club classics, Hed Kandi has charted the very finest music of the classic dance era; when clubbers could hear superb Chicago house music mixed together with hip hop, rare groove and the odd soul anthem. With most Back To Love albums now unavailable yet still in hot demand (check eBay!), this edition collates the most vital and favourite of all the tracks across two formats; a 3CD TV advertised mix album package and a five disc retrospective of full length versions in all their unmixed glory, packaged together in deluxe boxed set with full liner notes, discography, interviews, illustrations and more.
The first ever Hed Kandi boxed set charts all the tracks and the moments and memories they created in Hed Kandi's history of house!

While the term `legendary' is often thrown around when describing classic compilations, there is no other word to describe the who's who of house music included on this first-ever full Back To Love mix album. Farley JackMaster Funk, Frankie Knuckles and Marshall Jefferson to name a very small selection of the heavyweight producers featured, three names who have had played a huge part in the creation of the music we have came to know and love as `house'. Add a sprinkling of dance diva royalty such as Alison Limerick, Cheryl Lynn and Barbara Tucker, club hits to the tune of Nightcrawlers' `Push The Feeling On', Patti Day `Right Before My Eyes' and the anthemic Passion from Gat Decor to the mix and we start to have the makings of a true piece of old school gold! But we haven't stopped there. House music plays a huge part in this historic journey but the funk-soaked hip-hop beats of King Bee, Young MC and A Tribe Called Quest are every bit responsible for shaping the sound of the second summer of love! Remix duties come courtesy of heavyweight David Morales, house music's most prolific remix producer, aswell as mixes from Todd Terry, MK and our very own Stonebridge.

Pros and cons
In past experience, the Back to Love series has been ever so slightly hit and miss. I was unsure that a mixed version of previous classics would be all that palatable. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the level of quality on this album. This album is teeming with monster house and garage classics from Hed Kandi's glittering past.
It's not all hands in the air, have a good time, shiny disco balls magic though. Disappointingly this album is computer mixed which, while making it cheaper to produce, means it seriously lacks decent mixing quality: some tracks literally jar into the next in a somewhat frustrating manner. Also, cd3 starts off a bit too old skool hip hop for my taste, and seems at odds with the rest of the album, and indeed the remainder of cd3.
This isn't the best Back To Love ever, but as an amalgamation of the hits from all the previous album, it is peerless and save for a few drawbacks, a highly recommended buy!

Just got it, and boy do HED KANDI deliver!!
A lot of old classic tunes, and a lot from previous back to love.
But this should not discourage you.
