Henckels Five Star Paring Knife
Three years ago, I persuaded my partner to buy me some Henckels knives for Christmas. I had researched the subject beforehand and decided that Henckels was the brand that I wished to use. In three years of use, I have not been disappointed.

Each knife is a joy to use and has a good weight and balance in my hand. The manufacturer recommends the knives are hand washed, so I have never chanced putting them into the dishwasher. Whilst I am no fan of hand-washing, the knives are easy to clean and, if it ensures they stay looking as good as the day they were first unwrapped, it is no hardship.

The knives stay sharp for an incredibly long time and I have probably only sharpened them a couple of times in the three years I have been using them. In fact, my partner commented only last week how sharp they were - and he does not give praise to any kitchen item easily.

I have previously bought what I thought were good quality knife sets, but I have always been disappointed with them after a fairly short time. I am still incredibly happy with my Henckels knives three years on.

This knife, together with the Chefs knife, is probably the most used knife that I own and a good starting point for building up a set of quality knives.
