Anton Edelmann has been executive chef at The Savoy since 1982. In this book he blends his passion for cooking with his equally intense passion for the hotel. The book traces the course of a typical day at The Savoy, from breakfast time through lunch, dinner, afternoon tea to supper, with over 100 recipes and drinks from The Savoy restaurants. The recipes include both classic Savoy dishes and modern favourites, marrying British, Continental and American influences, with the occasional touch of Eastern flavour. All are described with sensitivity to the needs of the home cook. Introductions to each chapter evoke the special ambience of The Savoy at each time of day and feature pages explore the many facets of the hotel, from the many celebrity guests who have stayed and dined there to the design of the art deco interior.

Old school not my cup of tea
I was quite dissapointed with this book. I own some very nice cook books, but this one lack the finese the others have. I went through the book quickly and notice that the food was not of the highest quality. I see no perfection. This book is old school, thats not a bad thing if its done properly but I think the photo's in this book were rushed. The book is expensive for what you get. Old school not my cup of tea!
the savoy cookbook
received from Amazon. A defective book with No writing on the front of the book at all. I do not know how they could possibly send out such a book when they must see when they pack it that it is defective.
Insult to injury I have to pay the postage to return it!
Very annoyed and dissapointed with Amazon. A brief look at the book and it has tantalising pictures full of encouraging receipe ideas. Cant wait to own my own copy.
a five star cookbook
basically, this is a recipe book of what you might be able to order at the savoy (if you could afford it), but dumbed down ever-so slightly for the commoner. even so, the recipes look quite intricate to cook, although the pictures are mouthwatering and the text is highly readable. worth the money if you intend to throw even a couple of lavish dinner parties in your time.
